Building Wati's Shopify Onboarding Flow
Wati needed to improve Shopify user engagement, but lacked tailored onboarding and communication. With fresh UX copy and personalized email cadences, product adoption and activation quickly turned around.

Wati
Project Duration :
3 months

Problem
Wati’s integration with Shopify wasn’t performing as expected. Adoption among Shopify users was low, and users often didn’t make it far enough to experience value from the product. The lack of a dedicated onboarding flow or welcome email strategy left users unsure of what to do next, stalling both activation and engagement.

Challenge
The goal was clear but not easy: turn hesitant Shopify users into active product users, with limited time and resources. There was no existing framework for onboarding or product messaging tailored to this user segment. Everything had to be built from scratch, and it had to speak to a wide range of small-to-mid-size Shopify merchants.

Solution
Kaavian stepped in to build a Shopify-specific onboarding journey from the ground up. He revamped the product’s UX copy to make navigation and value delivery more intuitive. He also designed and implemented email cadences tailored to Shopify users, starting with welcome emails and progressing through activation nudges. These efforts aligned messaging, improved user clarity, and helped users reach their first success milestones faster.
Summary
Within a short span, Shopify user adoption saw a clear boost. Product activation rates climbed. Even Meta Business Manager account setups improved. The welcome email sequences saw strong open and click-through rates, proving that timely, helpful communication makes all the difference. By creating onboarding flows and improving copy, Kaavian helped Wati turn Shopify users into engaged customers.
